Weeks 1–2
Pain
Calm the pain.
Manual therapy and gentle movement ease stiff joints and tight muscles so headaches and neck pain start backing off.
What We Treat
Stiff neck, tight shoulders, and headaches that start at the base of your skull. When the neck is the source, treating the neck is how the headaches back off.

Why It Happens
A lot of neck pain comes from how the joints and muscles of the neck and upper back are working together: long hours at a screen, sleeping positions, old injuries like whiplash, or stress that settles in the shoulders. Stiff joints and overworked muscles can refer pain up into the head, which is why some headaches respond to treating the neck.
A cause-first evaluation looks at how your neck moves, where it’s stiff, and what provokes your symptoms, then builds a plan around that. It also screens for anything that needs a physician’s attention first, so you know you’re in the right place.
The Honest Truth
Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.
How We Fix It
Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like for neck pain.
Weeks 1–2
Pain
Manual therapy and gentle movement ease stiff joints and tight muscles so headaches and neck pain start backing off.
Weeks 2–4
Prime
We work on turning, tilting, and looking up again, and start strengthening the deep neck and upper back muscles.
Weeks 4–8
Perform
Strength and posture work for the way you actually sit, sleep, and work, so your neck handles a full day.
Weeks 8+
Prevent
A short home routine and workstation habits help keep neck pain and headaches from returning.
Where it starts: headaches most afternoons and a neck that won’t turn far enough to check your blind spot.
Where the plan is headed: full motion back, fewer headaches, and a routine that keeps your neck loose through the workday.
Questions, Answered
It can when the headaches are coming from your neck, which is common with tension-type and neck-related headaches. Your evaluation looks at whether your neck is a driver. If something points to a different cause, we’ll tell you and help you get to the right provider.
No. Indiana allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book your first evaluation without seeing your physician first. If your insurance plan requires paperwork from a physician, we’ll help track it down so it doesn’t hold up your care.
It depends on how long you’ve been dealing with neck pain and what your evaluation finds. A full plan runs through all four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform, and Prevent, typically over 6–8 weeks. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you’re in and what’s left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
